If you like waterbed mattresses then you will be very pleased to know that they have only gotten better over the last couple of decades.  Years ago the only type in existence was the hardside waterbed.  It had a number of disadvantages, however.  It was made in such a way that there was a bit of space between the mattress and the safety liner, in which germs, dirt, dust and even small children’s toys could fall and collect.  If you are allergic to dust and/or had a breathing condition, such as asthma, such a style of mattress would be very bad indeed.  Even if you did not have allergy problems, having a mattress that collects so much dirt and germs is very unhygienic indeed.

Hardside waterbeds were also not all that safe, as they were built in such a style that you almost had to climb in and out of bed.

That is why the softside waterbed is a much better choice.  It is healthier and cleaner than the hardside waterbed because of the way it is made; not only is there no extra room for dirt, germs and dust to accumulate, but hardside waterbed mattresses are made from vinyl and/or rubber material and these materials are known to be good bacteria resistors.
Another good point to the softside waterbed is that it does not have improperly placed side rails like the hardside waterbed did.  Softside waterbeds are about the most comfortable beds that you could possibly choose, providing you with not only great comfort while you sleep but good support as well.

Of course, each person is different and what works for one person does not work for the next.  To know if the softside waterbed is the best for you you would have to try it and see.  While of course there are a number of different brands selling this type of mattress one of the best in the market is the Strobel soft sided mattress.  They are quite popular in the waterbed mattress market and have a reputation for making good quality comfortable softside waterbeds.
